Overview
Kulture is a campus community app — spaces for your orgs, a feed, group chat, and events. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can control it.
Information we collect
Account information from the sign-in method you choose: Apple or Google account details they provide, your email address, or your phone number. Profile details you add yourself — username, bio, headline, pronouns, website, Instagram username, LinkedIn link, location label, education, interests, skills, languages, causes, communities, and what you're looking for; a self-reported birthdate for our 18+ requirement; and a school email if you choose to verify it.
We also collect content and activity you create — posts, mentions, comments, messages, likes, saves, archives, post views, event RSVPs, support conversations, Kulture AI chats, project instructions, context notes and links, collaborator choices, AI model and token-usage records, and photos you upload. We collect your device's push-notification token so we can notify you about your spaces. We access precise location only while you're using the Local feed and only with your permission; we don't track location in the background.
How we use it
We use this information to run the app: show your spaces' posts and chat, calculate private profile analytics, send event reminders, and personalize recommendations using profile tags you deliberately choose and spaces you join. We do not infer race, ethnicity, religion, or other protected traits from your profile or memberships.
To power Kulture AI and the Support assistant, your prompt plus relevant chat history, project context, and content from spaces every collaborator can access are sent to our AI provider to generate an answer. We store Kulture AI history and token counts so you can return to projects and so usage-based plans can be offered in the future; billing is not currently enabled.
To keep the community safe, text and images you submit are automatically checked for potentially harmful content. We also review reports, remove content that violates our Terms, and enforce blocks.
Who we share it with
Firebase and Google Cloud host our backend, authentication, storage, and push notifications, and process phone verification messages when you use phone sign-in. Apple handles Sign in with Apple, and Google handles Google Sign-In.
Our configured AI provider, currently Anthropic, processes AI assistant prompts and relevant context and checks submitted text and images for potentially harmful content as described above. People you invite can see the chats, instructions, notes, and links in that shared chat or project. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else for advertising.
Deletion and retention
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Your profile, membership data, posts, comments, messages, likes, saves, views, support conversations, Kulture AI messages and project context you added, uploaded resources, and photos are removed immediately. A collaborative AI project or chat may remain for other members, with ownership transferred and your content removed. Administrative records created on behalf of a space, such as an event created while serving as an officer, may remain with your personal information removed so the space can continue operating.
Your choices
You control location and notification permissions from iOS Settings, can edit or remove your profile information at any time, and can block or report anyone from a post, comment, or message. Account deletion is available in the app under Settings. You may also contact us using the address below.
Children's privacy
Kulture is intended for people 18 and older and isn't directed at children. Age is self-attested at sign-up.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app.
